Water main replacement works will start on Monday 6 October 2025 on the A3054 between Shalfleet and Ningwood Hill.

The current cast iron water pipes in this location, which date back to the 1930s, are beginning to show signs of wear and tear, despite regular maintenance.

We’re planning to replace these aging pipes with modern plastic ones, which are more durable and reliable. This will help reduce the risk of bursts, leaks and discolouration in the future.

We’ll be installing 1.1km of new water main in total, using 2-way traffic lights for a period of 15 weeks.

The work will be completed in two phases; the first phase will start on Monday 6 October 2025 for a period of 8 weeks. The second phase will start on Monday 12 January 2026 for a further 7 weeks. No work will be undertaken during December 2025.
